Types of Mattresses- Simplified - Part 2

Thanks for reading Part One! If you missed it and want to learn more about the different types of mattresses there are to purchase, check it out here!

If you are researching about your new mattress, I am sure you have come to learn that there is so much technical stuff about the mattresses today. When did mattress shoping get so complicated!! We want to help! There are also so many opinions about what type of mattress is the best for you. When I get the question, I answer the same way each time. Don’t let anyone else tell you what is comfortable for you, comfort is individual. We all don’t like the same things, so lay on some beds and tell me what you like and/or don’t like about it. We will help you find something that is comfortable for you because there is no one else like you!

So let’s learn about some other types of beds. In part one, we discussed innerspring, hybrid, memory foam, and adjustable bases. Today, we will define a pillowtop, latex, and air beds.

Types of Mattresses:

Pillowtop Mattresses-

These mattresses have a pillow sewn to the top of the mattress. This layer can be made from a variety of fiber, foam materials, and we even have one that has mini wrapped coils in it. Many people think these beds are the softest. That is not the reality. They provide a firmer support with added softness, that is excellent in reducing pressure points while sleeping.

Latex-

Latex mattresses use latex foam as the support system, in the upholstery layers, or both. Latex may be made from plant or petroleum-based materials. The latex used in our beds in manufactured in an eco friendly way. It is all natural and contains the body’s movements for supreme personalized comfort and orthopedic support in any position.

Air Beds-

Air beds use an adjustable air chamber as the support system. Unlike the type of air mattresses used for camping, the air chamber of a residential air bed is covered by upholstery materials, which can include various foams and fiber. Air beds allow you to adjust the firmness, and usually allow each side of the bed to be controlled separately in order to meet the individual and changing needs of couples. These beds are best for couples that have large varying differences on what they each consider comfortable.

We hope this helps in your search for a new mattress. If you have more questions, or would like to lay down and test out our beds, please visit us at the store. We would be more than happy to help you see and feel the differences in all the types of mattresses!
